    De Moivre question

If you plot the point -1-i on an argand diagram, it'll be in the third quadrant, which means tan is positive. Hence the argument should be positive.

    2006 & 2008 3u HSC's

That's ironic hahah, you're aiming for 80/84, yet you got 83 in the 2006 paper, which was a relatively hard paper. But I suppose if exam conditions be stressful, obtaining higher mark could be a turn off.

    2006 & 2008 3u HSC's

I did the 2008 paper just then, it was probably the hardest paper I've done. Hence, I went garbage haha 60/84

What to do 1 day before maths???

Doing some practice questions will give you 'last second' experience, and keep your mind active and prepared for the exam. Make sure you relax, don't stress out too much, it'll all be over soon.

    How'd everyone go?

I did my major study on moshing. The markers seemed pretty surprised. I reckon I got 90% in the paper.

    Estimate Please

Hmmm the English exam im expecting as high as 70/105 (67%), and IPT as high as 80%. If I were to get say 83% raw in software, would that give me a better chance of getting at least 90 atar?

Not being allowed to do maths extension 2

If they don't let you in, don't let it stop you. Work your backside off this term and hopefully you shall be rewarded. When I was in year 10, I was in the middle maths class and I wanted to do 2 unit maths, hence I picked it for my year 11 subject selection. However, due to my half yearly exam...

    Permutation Questions

    For the security password question: i) You can have 2 letters out of 8 letters, and 2 numbers out of 4 numbers. Since the numbers and letters can be repeated: 8 x 8 x 4 x 4 = 1024 different passwords. ii) If they cannot be repeated: 8 x (8-1) x 4 x (4-1) = 8 x 7 x 4 x 3 = 672 diff. passwords...

    When MX2 Gets Very Hard

MX2 gets harder, but not absolutely insane. I reckon the most 'insane' topic you'll do would be, as you said, harder 3 unit. Conics has long algebraic working out, but it's not very rigourous. In my opinion, the course is overrated - it's not as scary as people say it is. But it's different for...

    Mod Arg form

Even I couldn't be bothered to write out the steps hahaha but I would do it in the exam anyway, best not to risk losing 1 mark.

Do you think you are prepared?

Only mainly prepared for 3 unit maths and somewhat 4 unit hahaha

    Creative Writing tips ?

My teacher told me that you can get good marks if you write a story about hardships. I suppose you can write about something depressing and unusual such as someone faking their death - somewhat like the tv show '24'. I wrote a silly story using that faking death concept in my half-yealies and...

    HSC 2005 Q4 a

In my opinion, it would seem easier to let u = sinx then du = cosxdx, and so on and so forth, but it is a tad longer. But I do see the logic in this solution now ^^ and it's quick. So I suppose it's a matter of preference on what method you use. Good explanation Spiral :)

How do I finish the 3U exam?

For 3 unit past papers, my newly adopted strategy is to do Q1-3 in 30 min, Q4-5 in 30 min and Q6-7 in 35-40 min. It's not 30 minutes checking time, but about 20-25 minutes, so it should be alright. Legend.

Work required for a state rank?

Ok I have realised getting a state rank is most likely not possible in my case haha. But obtaining a mark above 95% is definitely achievable. Thanks for the feedback folks. And Inflection, please don't be so rude when you post next time.
