    poly roots Q

solve the equation 6x^4 - 11x^3 - 26X^2 + 22x + 24 = 0 given that the product of two of the roots is equal to the product of the other two This is fitzpatrick: Q17 p173 thanks in advance

    quick question

this is from a worked examle concerning the factor theorem, i understand the question except the part in red: question: find one zero, and hence express p(x) = x^3 - x^2 - 14x + 24 as a product of linear factors. solution: since the coefficient of x^3 is unity, the only possible zeroes involve...

    Trig proof Q

    im using @ for theta prove the following: sin(n@ + @) + 2sin(n@) + sin(n@ - @) = cot(@/2) cos(n@ - @) - cos(n@ + @) I can simplify the expression down so that: LHS = cos@ + 1 sin@ but i cant go any further thanks in advance

    fitzpatrick trigonometry problem

how did u get tan @ = a/BD? and isnt the area of the triangle in the tilted state the are of triangle ABE where E is a point on BC. (this is what i can see from the diagram)

    fitzpatrick trigonometry problem

its difficult for me to post up the question and hard for me to explain the diagram, so if anyone has the fitzpatrick textbook help would be very much appreciated for question 9 on page 24 I have tried everything and still, i cant figure it out thanks in advance

    Induction HSC Question

gee i cant do it either, wtf could someone please help

    disproof by induction

yes, but: 1. were saying that it is true for a value, when we are meant to prove it isnt for any 2. we are saying that it isnt true for the value following the value it is true for, so for it to be not true, the one before has to be true; imm not sure how to explain it, but the 'domino effect'...

    disproof by induction

I can do the first part (the proof) but not the second (the disproof): Prove by induction that, for any positive integer n, the product (n + 1)(n + 2)....(n + n) is always a multiple of 2^n but never a multiple of 2^(n + 1) I tried by proving that its not true...

    geometry question

ABCD is a trapezium with AB parallel to DC. the diagonals intersect at O. the line through O parallel to AB cuts AD and BC at P and Q respectively. prove that PO = QO. thanks =]

    cyclic quad question

say you have a quadrilateral ABCD in order (clockwise). If angle DBC = angle CAD can we then say that ABCD is cyclic as if you draw a circle, angles in the same segment are equal? why/why not? thanks in advance

    length of common tangent??

ye, but what did u calculate?

    length of common tangent??

man wtf, this is fitzpatrick, the next 4 q's ask for the length of the common tangent, this is bullshit

    length of common tangent??

I know what a common tangent is but what are you actually being asked to find in this: two circles of radii 5cm and 8cm touch each other externally. Calculate the length of the common tangent Cant the length of the tangent be anything?
