People with higher IQ 'Less Likely to Believe in God'

Nah he got in trouble in the past for showing a link between race and intelligence and socio-economic status and intelligence. Which wasn't really fair on him because his methodology was sound in-so-far as the IQ test is a sound reflection of intelligence (it is in some ways, but not in others).

People with higher IQ 'Less Likely to Believe in God'

That's what the cigarette companies said about smoking and lung cancer. P.S. Einstein strongly questioned the existence of God and did not believe in organised religion.

People with higher IQ 'Less Likely to Believe in God'

Are you retarded? Do you know what "less likely" means? It means there's a low probability, but a probability nonetheless, that something will happen. Scientists who believe in god are in no-way invalidations of this observation.

New airport scanners see underneath clothing

That's about the only way you could record it (unless you know how to reprogramme foreign architectures to store the what's likely a data-heavy picture, hook it up to the internet, upload said pictures, and do all this without even opening up the case... in which case you'd probably be better...

    Does God exist?

True, I would be more than happy if you did just one thing: When somebody mentions something scientific which you feel goes against God's teachings, don't automatically dismiss it. Keep an open mind, do some research if you want, but don't come to a firm conclusion unless it conflicts with...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

Good point, Waf. And I detest the 'charity' argument libertarians use. Isn't relying on the charity of others akin to forced distribution of wealth? What if people don't want to be charitable? It's their right not to be, is it not? What happens when charity isn't enough to cover everybody...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

Interesting. So you're using Cuba and the Soviet Union, communist entities, as examples as to why mixed market welfare states like Australia and most of the Western world are "not in line with libertarianism"? What you're trying to imply is that welfare states like those of the Western world...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

I guess another of my main qualms with libertarians is their knee-jerk assumption that anything remotely socialist is anti-libertarian. On what basis? If a socialist model produces results most in line libertarianism, in the real world, compared to a purely libertarian model, is it not then the...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

Type 'human rights' into wikipedia. I agree with that, as I believe any sane person would. It's not exactly negotiable. And I would be perturbed if you tried to do so, though I will listen if your argument is genuine rather than distraction of the "it's all relative" sort. The USA tries to put...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

My conception of rights? Well I, like most the Western world, believe in upholding human rights. I don't really see how we could hold 'different' conceptions of rights, since as far as I can tell you're a good, kind, ultimately altruistic person. Can't find my post, but: See here...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

Fortunately, almost all Western countries (bar America), and the UN acknowledge that utilitarian humanism in democracy is the best political framework for maximising local and global human rights. No it doesn't. Have you actually checked the figures? Many of the countries with the best welfare...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

Which we need. People like that keep things honest. The problem is when they accumulate in large amounts and their ideas are no longer a force of moderation, but a controlling force, e.g. America. See, I'm the opposite. At least with being pragmatic I can recognise the flaws and try to find a...

    What languages do you know?

Actually, C is arguably the worst language to teach people to begin with, in terms of picking up bad habits (not to mention it doesn't really support OO). While C is one of the most important languages to teach (along with Haskell for its logical consistency and superb example of the functional...

New airport scanners see underneath clothing

If you're worried that a low-level clerk working at the airport is going to get their jollies off by savouring the moment you walk past the scanner so they can observe the grescale blurr that forms, you need to take a good, hard look at yourself.

From Hanson to Camden: Australia’s racist shame

No it's not. I'm on a few forums of predominantly European and British make-up and they tend to idealise Australia. Typically hold fairly romantic notions of it. Although I'm often asked why we give "abos" (their words) more rights than normal citizens. TBH, Europeans might preach about...

    Does God exist?

Holy hell that's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. At least I can somewhat respect the logical consistency of a Creationist's stance, but that's borderline retarded.
