Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

Got it. I think. It took me a while, had to find that logic in me. But got there! You guys are lucky, I'm in a class of 4 and most are competitive. So it's an effort to try and come out on top. Although I hope I get the best externally, I'm the only person in my class with a 'concept'. I guy in...

English Ext: Documentary allowed as related text?

Ooh, that's a toughy. I guess not, because they'd both have the same techniques (kinda like an article and a short story would both use the same techniques, but are still different text types) But I probably wouldn't do it anyway, just in case. They're both the same medium, really. Both cinematic.

    Cloudstreet

I like the book. But not as a book to study. Studying Cloudstreet is like being an amputee climbing Mt. Everest. It's shit.

Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

Poetry. It has its perks (less to write, mainly) Critical response, jeez! YOu gotta really love analysis to do one of those, especially after Advanced and Extension! Diametric, I tried really, really hard to understand that, and still failed. Guess that's why I'm taking Ext 2. The logical part...

    Practice?

Try being a singer. I can practice hours and hours, but if I'm having a shit day on the exam, then bye bye UAI. Seriously, I've gone weeks practicing 1+ a day (which is pretty intense for voice) before performance assessments and STILL had a shit day and blown it.

    Trial Performances

Whenever I perform my monologue I feel pretty 'drained' after. Not sure about down, but definitely drained. That's what you get for choosing a heavy subject matter. I just hope it doesn't come across teenage angsty to the markers. It's not angsty in any way, or about suicide or depression, but...

Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

I doubt that I'll stop editing until at least the afternoon of the 27th. I can't help myself but edit the shit out of things. Every time I read it I find a 'mistake' (which is usually nothing, just me going 'mm, but ____ would sound better than ____') Anyone else planning on getting theirs...

Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

mmm..just finished my first draft as well, and its pretty much a re-wording of my report (which i got 20/20, woooo just found out!) with a whole lotta reflection, intended audience, sucking up and links to my preliminary advanced course (the link is tenuous, but what are we supposed to say? 'I...

    Ruby Moon

I fucking KNOW! Every single person I know who went to see it thought it was the biggest piece of shit they'd ever seen. I mean, they made Veronica Vale a tranny. Wtf. And I stayed for the Q&A afterwards and got hammered for asking if they thought they'd warped Matt Cameron's intentions.

Finished Major Work? Started Reflection Statement?

Never fear! A girl in my class did the EXACT same thing as you, and only realised the night before our report was due that she wasn't writing her reflection statement. You'll be right. The two are weirdly similar. Reflection statement is just more...reflective.

Does Your Eng Ext 2 Major Work, Have To Be Related To Literature?

I dunno that it has to really be 'grounded in literature', to such an extravagant extent. Of course, peripheral reading is pivotal in your success, but I think some things, like poetry, already have a 'grounding' in the style that you choose. So you could write poetry about OCD, as long as...

Ted Hughes - The Birthday Letters

I think they're supposed to be studied in conjunction with each other, equally. After all, you're trying to provide a balanced argument. Except none of Plath's poems are 'prescribed' as Birthday Letters is. So I don't really know...!

Romanticism - Conventions, Values, Paradigms. A study list :)

Possibly relating to your Anti-Establishmentarianism (biggest bitch to type out, that one), is the Romantics disassociation with religion? It's too late to elaborate, but I'll dot point it upppppp Romantic poets (Coleridge, Blake in particular) all experimented with 'Christianity' more as a...
