    Techniques?

in a prepared essay yea, i'd only use imperative verb. but if it were an unseen text like Paper 1 part 1, then its very important to be able to find a lot of techniques quickly, since the final question of part 1 the, 5/6 marker needs 10-12 techniques if you want full marks. its good to practice...

    Techniques?

Active Verb/imperative 'control' 2nd person pronoun 'she', inclusive 'our', active verb 'stealing', alliteration S, and S truncated sentence structure. I don't really think its synecdoche, the part doesn't really represent the whole here. 7 techniques in one minute i found, i'm sure i could find...

Belonging speech, Immigrant Chronicles critique wanted.

if you're doing Babel, Immigrant Chronicles (feliks + st pats), or just want a read send me a pm with your email or leave it here and i'll send it to you. I think its quite good, although it does need trimming at 1100 words/ 6 minute speech.

"Stephenie Meyers can't write" - Stephen King

i agree sort of, but Harry Potter isn't exactly well written. If you were to judge it purely by its writing it'd be a 7, 7.5 out of 10. what makes harry potter so readable, is the depth of plot, it has one of the most intricately constructed plots of any novel i've ever read. I'm not saying the...

    Immigrant Chronicle Discussion & Ideas

frankly this text is absolutely bullshit for belonging, its very hard to compare texts to it directly as its so migrant centric. You just have to compare them in relation to notions of belonging/acceptance, identity and all that shenanigans, and contrast them. really wish i had the crucible or...

"Stephenie Meyers can't write" - Stephen King

I don't mind arcehtypes like Klaris said as much. first and foremost is quality of prose. and in twilight it's incrediblly , incredibly, as in apathetic year 6 girl writing level; so riddled with cliches, ineffective metaphor's, flat one dimensional characters- not to mention the absurdity and...

    What are you currently Reading?

haha i own the 7 ancient wonders/6 sacred stones/5 greatest warriors trilogy, its shameless really. but oh my it's addictive. its action scene upon action scene, like if michael bay were given a 1 billion dollar budget and a script with just enough plausiblity and evil cliche's, but still oh so...

    HSC vs IB

definitely IB, especially if you want to work oversea's. IB offers a more rounded, less mark driven system, (a levels instead of 0.05 of an atar), greater variety of subjects useful to higher education--> especially compolsory languages. IB should be done if you plan to study/work oversea's...

Are my subjects for yr 11 crap? :(

all your subjects are low scaling. that being said: it doesn't matter UNLESS you're aiming for 99+, or arguably 97+, you just need to get good marks. 90 is quite doable with those subjects!.
