Can you really only get 99.95 at a top private/selective school?

yep oblivious is right. i checked http://www.topscores.info/select-nsw.php. which has really good stats btw. By selecting "HSC Distinguished Achiever Counts per School and Subject", and specifying Baulko below, here's how many band 6s baulko has had each year (note:every year baulko has 200...

Can you really only get 99.95 at a top private/selective school?

where did you get that stat from? and by that, do you mean moderated internal? because if so, then wouldn't then also mean roughly 50% of baulko students were sitting on 90+ external, which would then result in the same for internal moderated marks. if you get what I mean? was this only last...

UNSW vs. MQ for actuarial (POLL!)

[B] squareroot, I think you've misunderstood my intentions. when I said: The reason I said it was so you can gauge what my maths ability is. If I had plainly asked how hard will I find actuarial, well, someone would have replied "how am I supposed to know? I can give you a rough idea if...

UNSW vs. MQ for actuarial (POLL!)

hmmmm. that is what I've heard from most people. that's why people say "get into co-op or do another degree with co-op like commerce or eco or applied finance". thoughts people?

UNSW vs. MQ for actuarial (POLL!)

I've heard otherwise (even on BoS). Are you sure? But you do raise an interesting point, the difficulty of the degree. How much difficulty would a person like me, with a rank within top 10 in a top 5 school, typically have with the content of the degree? How hard and how much work would I need...

UNSW vs. MQ for actuarial (POLL!)

I definitely want to go into an actuarial job (whether general, life or super etc.). Its just I'm worried about the oversupply of actuarial graduates and job prospects etc. in the field. To be honest, I really love maths and commerce, and want to do something that combines those two fields.

UNSW vs. MQ for actuarial (POLL!)

Refer to Poll (above) for my main question. Reply below with more thoughts if you wish. Thanks! :) BY THE WAY, this is the FULL question for the poll: In your opinion, which of these is the best degree to do at uni, taking into account factors such as teaching quality, content covered...

Just how influencial are the final external exams?

then how come, just at the end of the hsc external period, Board of Studies reports to students their ranks via Students Online. Why not marks? Because they might still tell me my right rank of last in say Basketweaving, but they might have had me down as 11 marks behind 2nd last in internals...
