    The MQ Get Healthy/Study Thread

shhhh! :p I think I slept at about 4am this morning. Had to wake up this morning for flamenco... ugh. I've been dead basically all of today, trying to figure out how beneficial it will be to just have a short nap now and stay up all night to re-set the body clock?!?!

    looking for elven formal dress!!!

formal dress shops ftl, excluding Harts and a handful of other places. There was this shop in Hornsby that sold your basic Princess Line strapless dress in various shades of taffeta, they also sold all your generic princess-line bodice and flared skirt type dresses too. And for OUTRAGEOUS...

    looking for elven formal dress!!!

Lincraft can have some very nice stuff (they normally have one BEAUTIFUL set of fabrics per season) but variety wise, they haven't got anything on Spotlight :( Lincraft has really been dropping in fabric range over the years since they've headed into financial problems (this is one of the...

    looking for elven formal dress!!!

My personal recommendation is actually Spotlight. I've been to the 'warehouse' type fabric stores in Cabramatta and whilst I think they are great for stocking variety in generic fabric (plain dyed chiffon, satin, tulle etc) and beautiful heavy laces/embroidered tulle and organza, for a design...

    bibliography?

Bibliography IS NOT counted in the word limit for RS :) It's not a requirement, however I think it's something that's nice to go in there (annotated bibliography is nicer still, if you have lots of time on your hands and are looking for something to do :))

How does one go about improving their essays between trials and HSC

Good points above. Another suggestion if teachers/friends aren't of much help is to get a tutor :) Something I always like to do before starting an essay is to talk out loud about how I would answer the question in a nutshell, using my own words. Then I'll repeat this to myself everytime...

Help - Use of other languages in the story

One of the girls in my creative writing class semester that that :) No translations were provided but it was pretty clear what was going on by other little things - eg "he stood up hastily and bellowed "_____" etc. :)

    The MQ Get Healthy/Study Thread

^ mm, agreed :) If it makes you feel better to know, I've been the same weight for about two years now and literally, no movement either way (it takes something BIG for me to gain or lose a kilo :P). However, I know I've lost and gained muscle over this time, and a couple of people seem to...

    Degrees pass the $200,000 mark

Re: Warning!!! Its official Macquarie Uni is a degree factory!!! I'm sure Kenny's just still sore because he didn't get into MQ, therefore he's creating all these stories (such as people having to sit in aisles) to make himself feel better. Now, I *am* an MQ student, and I can tell you about...

    For people doing CSSA Trials...

Yeah, I think it was Cheltnam too. I don't think they 'spread' it around though - didn't they just set the exam itself a few days earlier than they were supposed to? And so obviously the girls chatted about the exam to their friends who hadn't done it yet, and those friends talked to more...

erica - what's probably happened is that you've hit a plateau. Either your body has hit what it considers is as "light" as it will go (bear in mind muscle weighs more than fat - you can loose centimetres but not kilos, in fact sometimes you will even gain weight!), or you need to get more...

educ 105 or soc 180 anyone???

soc180 is probably in the 'college of humanities' (if we're talking subforums). I did it last year, nice little easy interesting topic :)

    examining journal?

I think that you have to apply to get it back... although some schools will request for all journals to be returned (which was the case with my school, I think). My teacher was telling me once about an EE2 Critical Response he read where he had to read the journal. Basically, he thought it...

    Breakdown

If it helps, try keeping everything in perspective :) You're doing your trial exams. It seems ridiculously scary, but what's the worst thing that could happen? You might get a low mark which constitutes maybe 30% of your internal mark, which constitutes about 50% of your final mark, and then...

    examining journal?

^ correct. They will only look at your journal for validation purposes, if at all. Many EE2 students report their journals not veing touched at all - as proof one girl tied a string around her journal with a complicated chinese knot, maybe the rest of you can try something similar if you...

    hiphop dancing

Hmm. Speaking as both a dancer and a dance teacher, there will always be some that have to work so much harder to get half as good as others (and similarly, some people who will be at a natural advantage). But that doesn't mean that you can still become a decent dancer - it just takes practice...
