    Biology Bridging Course

I did human biology without doing the recommended bridging course. I did get a credit, but I can't say I ever really understood any of it. I think I passed with dumb luck. Hope that helps.

    Questioning the Engineering Stereotype

EDIT: this is from a mechanical perspective. Actually, of all the universities, Sydney uni engineering tends to be theoretical not practical. There's lots of maths and classical mechanics classes and not too many practical ones. However, in first year there might be one or at most two classes...

    QUESTION 10b) iv)

No you don't. Radians are dimensionless. 2 is just a number; no need to bother writing "rad" or anything like that.

    Mathematics solutions

The radius of the cylinder is the x value at C. since y = x^2, then at y=h, x = sqrt(h). The volume of the cylinder is the pi*radius^2*height = pi*sqrt(h)^2*h. Put that under the volume of the paraboloid in pt i and you get half.

    Prestige or the course?

If you want to do maths, go for it. Don't choose your second course preference just because your friend thinks his university is more "prestigious". (That's BS anyway; UNSW is highly regarded when it comes to the sciences.)

    Domain question :S

Re: Also Range question :S For the range question. y=-(x-6)(x-1) From the graph it's evident the lowest value of y is -6 at x=0 and x=7, and the highest value of y is at the vertex, x=7/2 f(7/2)=-(7/2-6)(7/2-1) =25/4 Therefore range: -6≤y≤25/4

    Domain question :S

    Re: Also Range question :S The square root has to be ≥ 0 Therefore x^2 - x - 2 ≥ 0 (x-2)(x+1)≥0 x≥2; x≤-1 That's the domain.

Essay writing guide from a disgruntled tutor

I can! But in all seriousness, I enjoyed reading that. Thank you. BTW You mentioned marking criteria. Do English teachers have a specific marking criteria we don't see, or do they just use the very general three dot points you see on the back of study guides?

Someone explain how bad is general maths scaled?

That's a graph of the HSC mark (x-axis) vs scaled mark (y-axis). The red curve's general maths, and the green curve's advanced English. The blue curve's Ext 2 maths, which I threw in there for comparision (one of the highest scaled subjects). So an 80 in gernal maths isn't too far off an 80...
