hi, i have a solution but im not sure if it's correct. could somebody do it and show me what they get?
thanks
shade region where both | z-(1+i) | <= sqrt(2)
and where 0 <= argz <= pi/2 hold simultaneously
ii) find the exact perimeter and area of the shaded region
z^4 = 1.....easy to solve......got that done
hence solve:
z^4 = (z-1)^4
please advise
thanks
nb:
i attempted to solve it this way;
z^4 = 1...so
(z - 1)^4 = 1
therefore (z - 1)^2 = +-1
therefore..z - 1 = +-1, +- i
z = 0, 2, 1 + i, 1 - i
this may be obvious to some..but im not seeing it
x^2 - x + k = 0
it has two distinct positive real roots
question is to show 0 < k < 1/4
i can do this by showing the discriminant is > 0 to show it has two distinct positive real roots...but why is it greater than zero?
is it...
hi all
these questions came from the resources, there are solutions but they aren't worked and i cant seem to get out a few. so if anyone can have a crack and explain to me their solution that would be cool

Hi,
I'm in year 11, current subjects are:
IPT
SDD
Art
Maths + Ext 1
Physics
Eng. Adv
Catholic Studies
I intend to pick up an extra unit of maths, but i'm not really keen on doing 14+ units during my HSC year, that's just pointless. I'm currently topping IPT, SDD and Art and doing quite well...
