Results and Predictions (Semester 2 2008)

Hm, it may be just an Arts Faculty thing then.

Results and Predictions (Semester 2 2008)

Don't be so anxious! The Scholarships and Prizes Office contacts you in Feb/March if you've won a prize. What you receive in the mail is just the marks, nothing more, nothing less.

    Dean's List in SMH?

Not sure of the GPA equivalent, but my semester 2 WAM was 91.

    Dean's List in SMH?

Ah, I just got the letter informing me of inclusion on the 2007 Dean's List. FYI, it seems that the Dean's List for the Arts Faculty comprises the top 20 students taking senior units of study. Each Faculty has its own criteria though. company_sin, the letter I received says that it's awarded...

    US Studies Centre board announced

There are three ways this can pan out. The US Studies Centre will become a bastion of neoconservative research, liberal research, or both. Personally, I would prefer the third option. As much as I despise neocons, an institution of higher education shouldn't suppress any viewpoint. So I say let...

Official Semester 1 (2007) Exams Thread

Re: Official Semester 1 Exams Thread Eh, shit. I have an exam tomorrow and my seat numbers aren't showing up for some reason. Anyone else have this problem? I click on 'Examination Seating' and my course doesn't even show up.

    Semester I Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread! They're so draconian with it, too. I have something like $27 in fines and the librarian went all Nazi on me for it, confiscating the books I wanted to borrow. Although that's something of an improvement over the $100 or so I racked up last year. The...

    USYD - snobbery?

Law has many, many snobs. Arts, not so much. Intelligent kids, but certainly not snobs. But then I guess this all depends on what your idea of a 'snob' is. They're not all that unbearable either. And if worse comes to worst and you find yourself surrounded by snobs, you're under no...

    referncing in essays

I've never seen anything of that sort, but then I don't do education and government subjects. I understand your predicament. However, what I'm arguing against is the mentality of "oh, I need x number of sources". It's a very HSC mindset, and I mean that in a bad, bad way. I guess I'm trying to...

    referncing in essays

No offence to the people who have responded with "bare minimums", but I really think a question like this is moot. First, because your markers are looking for original argument, something which no amount of secondary sources is magically going to imbue your essay with, and second, because these...

    ENGL1025- what the?

Just footnote it like this: Anthony Minghella, The Talented Mr Ripley (Miramax, 1999).

Law classes too big at USyd

Indeed, tutorial sizes for Contracts are more than reasonable - about 15-20 in my class. Processes of Justice is another matter - about 40 students per class there. And I think that's a sign of things to come.

    Exam Results - Implications

It was much too trivial for my tastes. People suing to get out of paying a 5 cent exit toll? No thanks.

    Exam Results - Implications

Yeah, "commercial legal situations" aren't exactly my cup of tea either. I'm much more interested in international law and possibly criminal law.

    Exam Results - Implications

I think I can explain this one, from my (admittedly limited) university experience. Generally, smarter people (and I recognise the subjectivity of this description) will perform excellently at subjects they're passionate about, but not so crash hot in those they have absolutely no interest in. I...

    Examination Results Semester II, 2006

hmmm well it's early days yet. i'll try to get a bit more focussed on law next semester (i'll have to, seeing as it's two subjects in semester 1 2007 instead of one).
