    Freaking out about your exams?

PHIL1011 was surprisingly painless. Seat number 38 here, for you stalkers.

    Freaking out about your exams?

Normative Ethics is bad. That is all.

    Freaking out about your exams?

I'm gonna have to disagree on this one. The sheer scope and generality of the questions were a real load off my shoulders at least.

    Semester 2 Timetable '06

Oh crap, I've been bested. AND you have so many lectures/tutes in the quadrangle...

    Semester 2 Timetable '06

Cuz its cool. They just signify what times/days people have requested to have off (using the customise timetable function).

    Semester 2 Timetable '06

Semester 1 has taught me that I'm not a morning person. I'm just too fond of sleeping in and far too grouchy in the morning. Bring on the evening classes, then. The timetable itself is rather crap though. 12-7 on Tuesdays. I'll fix that. EDIT: BAHAHAHAHA yes! I have exploited the customise...

    Freaking out about your exams?

You are aware the pool of possible exam questions for PHIL1011 is available on WebCT, right?

    Freaking out about your exams?

HSTY1025 was a Cakewalk. Having said that, I was operating on three hours sleep and a Red Bull, forgot almost all of my historians, and wrote some overly general shit in a really disorganised fashion. Was a fair exam, though. Hope all you historians had more success.

    Shoe sizes

It is when you're buying a pair of runners, but not when you're in a swanky store selling leather shoes imported from Milan.

    Shoe sizes

Being employed in the shoe department of a popular and despotic franchise that shall remain nameless, allow me to end the controversy. These 'Australian' sizes you're referring to are 'UK' sizes. Most stores in Australia that sell leather shoes use this sizing system, and the US equivalent is...

    Scared..

BAHAHAHAHA please, that's the most unenforceable law known to man. Otherwise you'd have all these asian kids suing their parents.

    Freaking out about your exams?

Catherine's tute. I thought Lynn was a bit needlessly discursive at times, and had way too much of a focus on maps and pretty pictures. The constant technical troubles were a bit of a pain too. I only attended a few of Julie's lectures, but I found I actually got quite a bit out of those (I...

    Freaking out about your exams?

I guess I do - technically, anyway. I stopped showing up to lectures after the one on Pirenne and sat in the tutorials with my arms crossed most of the time. Needless to say, she wasn't the most engaging woman. That said, I think I have a general idea of what's going on. The textbook by...

    Freaking out about your exams?

I think my excuses have something to do with the fact that I'm just disillusioned by the concept of exams in uni subjects like history and philosophy. Historians and philosophers don't sit down and write their theses in 45 minutes or so, so why should students? Ah well, my tutor said something...

    Freaking out about your exams?

While that may be true, you can't deny that it encourages cramming, and cramming is never good. I mean, honestly, who does consistent study? Anyone? All I did was put effort into the assignments, and now it's come back to bite me in the ass.

    Freaking out about your exams?

I can't help but feel the way they've structured the courses is a bit random. The way mine are, it is very much possible to get high distinctions in all assessments and then fail the exams. Why? Because the content covered in the exam is not (in most cases) the content covered by assignments. I...

Attention - People with State Rankings or Olympiad involvement or similar achievement

Re: Attention - People with State Rankings or Olympiad involvement or similar achieve It doesn't mean they're not, either. I mean, let's be realistic - most tutors straight out of high school, whether sporting Olympiad medals or not, have no idea what the hell they're doing.

    Semester 1 Chatter Thread (2006)

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Yeahhhhh, 90 for my philosophy essay. Too bad the exam is worth 60% and doesn't contain anything that even remotely relates to my essay.

    Semester 1 Chatter Thread (2006)

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Yes, I have this handout, and the way they've structured the exam pretty much means you need to know everything. Uh oh. No matter, it'll just mean a fair bit of cramming. Heh, and ujuphleg, I'd take your advice with the gamble thing, but I'm the kind of student that...
