There are 4 red and 3 black discs. Sophie and Emma are playing a game in which they take turns drawing a disc and replacing it. To win the game, Sophie must draw a red disc and for Emma to win she must draw a black disc. They continue taking turns until there is a winner. Sophie goes...

    Clashes in timetable

Any students from Faculty of Business and Economics notice the three way clash between ACCG329, ECON350 and ACST300? This is silly.

    Econ200

change in Q / change in p x p over q is the same thing as partial deriv of Q / partial deriv of p x p over q. THe triangle sign (delta) has the same meaning as that funny "d"

No, that's not true. It's just a complement to the textbook. It gives a chapter by chapter summary followed by some exercises. Thanks.

    Advice on ECON200

If you have Glenn Jones for the first half of the semester, you'll come to think of micro as the hardest thing ever. I remember sitting through his lectures without a clue in the world. But if you listen to iLecture and continually pause to absorb the material, he actually explains it really...

    ECON2101 textbooks (Varian 7e)

Hi everyone, I'm over at Macquarie and into my third year of economics. I understand through a friend that this subject required the "Intermediate Microeconomics" Varian text and workbook. We used these texts last year and our lecturers have this year insisted on continuing to chop and change...

    Timetable Clash

Okay, I sat down this afternoon to draw up what my timetable might look like for sem 1. I found that my 3 hour (Mon 2-5pm) GEOS204 "mixed activity" class clashes with the only ECON356 tutorial (Mon 4-5pm). Is it possible that I still enrol in both units? Can I just skip the last hour of the...

    Geos204

Im taking this subject this year. I understand its a very broad, non-specific unit. But, the feature that enticed me was the assignment dominated assessment structure. The uni website mentions: "GEOS204 Life, the Universe and Everything 3 cp Staff contact: A/Prof George This is...

    ECON356: History of Economic Thought

Thanks for the write-up, mate! I've been waiting for a unit like this to come along. Frankly, i've grown tired of the technicalities of first and second year economics. I've always preferred expressing thoughts and ideas in words rather than learning and applying derivations of formulae and...

    binomial q

If (1+x)^n = sigma(r=0-->n) (nCr)(x^r) then show by integration that sigma (r=0-->n) ((-1)^n)(nCr)/(r+1) = 1/(n+1). Writing it out might be easier to understand. I integrated both sides, the LHS is easy, the RHS i can get, but i cant work out what to do after that. Thanks
