Old degree: B Arts in Com (Journo) DFEE
New degree: B Arts in Com (Journo) HECS
UAI: 90.95
GPA: 5.875 (1 HD, 5 D's and 2 C's)
NRSL index: 92.475

So I'm transfering into my second year of the same degree with an almost distinction average. Does that bode well for me? We've had to go through UAC this year instead of an internal transfer so I find it odd that I could be competing with students who haven't completed all the first year credit points like I have.

nope, they don't weigh the marks based on subject.

It's not very likely, I'm sorry to say. Your NRSL rank won't be particularly high, but then again, anything can happen.

No, you'll be competing for NRSL places, and not with people who haven't completed all their credit points.

yea, since 36 is the minimum, your competing with students who have done 36+ UOC, the rest ( <36uoc), since its only going to be UAI, i think are ...hey who do those people compete with? transfer or hscers?

well anyway mine is
Uai: 87.25
Gpa: 4.67
NRSL:87.xx
Course: MRS Diagnostis uai cutoff is 88.xx
my chances?

friends.
Uai: 78.95
Gpa: 4.67
NRSL: 82.975
Course: MRS Radiation uai cut off 83.1

Current Course: B Creative Arts at University of Melbourne

2005 UAI: 98.55

GPA: 7

WAM: 85

UAC Preference: B Arts / B Laws at University of Sydney

Internal Transfer Preference: B Creative Arts / B Laws at University of Melbourne

My GPA is deceptive, because University of Melbourne doesn't use HD, D or C. Instead, it uses the honours grading system for all undergraduates: H1, H2A, H2B, H3. I'm treating an H1 = HD, even though an H1 = 80+ at University of Melbourne. Fuck knows how UAC is going to convert my results. They told me they had a procedure but refused to tell me what it was.

Needed GPA: Unknown
UAC preferences:
1. B Arts/ Laws - USYD (unlikely but there for good measure).
2. B Social Science (Criminology)/ B Laws - UNSW (unlikely but there for good measure).
3. B Arts/ Laws - Macquarie
4. B Laws - UTS
(other courses to fill in the spaces)

unfortunately, your chances aren't high. With your UAI, I would expect that a D average would be necessary :(

I want to transfer from BComm/BEco UNSW to BComm/BArts USYD, however i'm only just on a credit avg (uai 93.15) and havn't applied through uac yet, so not sure if it's worth taking the risk and paying the late fee.. hrm.

that is a risk, but it's possible that this will be enough to transfer.

Transfer to:

1. BSc/BEd (USyd, UAI=83)
2. BSc (USyd, UAI=~83)
3. BSc/BTech (USyd, UAI =75)
4. BScA (USyd, UAI=75)

NRSL score = 81.075

Don't think I'll make it in to the first two, but I'm equally as happy with the third preference. Extra happy if the UAI's come down on the first two, and if the NRSL score is about 3 points lower than the UAI (here's hoping).

they dont guarantee consideration, but call them and find out if they will consider you. from what im aware of, they still do (as preferences are only locked in after the open days)

best to contact them. i only know the NRSL for com (lib studies) @ usyd - which was 96.6 last year (higher than law :( :( ).

however, it's unknown what it'll be from year to year (however, the higher the candidature, the more stable the cutoff).

if it gets anywhere above 95 it's mathematically impossible for me to get in, no matter what my marks are :(

probably less. for courses with larger candidatures, the trend seems to be a lower NRSL cutoff than uai cutoff
