hi guys,

just wondering wat sort of raw mark sum1 would need to get 100% in 2u?
would it be AT LEAST 118/120 RAW MARK?

btw, how many ppl get 100 for 2u---just 1 or is it like the UAI --15 or so every yr??

cheers

It varies from year to year whether or not ppl get 100. In Jeff Gehas book it says that in 1993 the highest raw mark was only 110..so it really does depend on the difficulty of the exam. Having said that I think acmilan got 118(I think) and came third in the state last year, so he will probably have a better idea about this.

i was under the impression that to get 100% as an exam mark in your HSC exam, you need to actually get a raw mark of 100%.

Not usually, no. I think the top HSC mark for each subject tends to stay the same in most cases, regardless of the raw mark.
Not positive about that though.

it depends on your hsc exam mark and assessment mark. having the highest hsc exam mark doesn't mean you're going to come first in the state. you have to have the highest hsc mark.

Me = 3rd, raw mark = 118/120, hsc mark = 99/100

which means:
guy who came 2nd got raw mark of 119/120 and hsc mark of 99

guy who was first got raw mark of 120/120 and hsc mark of 100.

How do you know that two people didn't get the same mark and didn't both come first, and you got the second highest mark but came third?

Because bos wouldve reported them as equal first if they got the same mark, but they didnt. I actually came equal 3rd with some other person and bos reported that i was equal third, and since they didnt do the same for the people above me, they didnt come equal.

yea but its not just based as ur HSC Mark.

well someone last yr did get 120/120 (since u only get 100/100 if u actually get full marks) but the person who came second could ahve got 120/120 aswell... just a lower assessment mark.

the person who came second could've got 118/120 and a higher assessment mark than yours.

cant really be sure that they actually did get 119/120.

Thats unlikely because if they had an assessment mark of 99 and they got 100 in the hsc, then their assessment mark becomes 100 provided that they came first (it would be very unlikely that they didnt come first, but it can happen).

If they came 2nd in state, chances are they came first in their grade, so their assessment mark wouldve been their exam mark, if not then someone else in the same school wouldve had to have gotten pretty close to 100, which isnt the case since all the people near the top go to different schools. Just like my assessment and exam mark was exactly the same since i came first in my school.
