Hey

i was just wondering if you can do 100 level units in your second year? I was wishing to do human anatomy (HLTH 107) this year but it looks like my timetable will clash... however i really wanna do this subject.
By the way... where do i go to apply for a subject change.. the student enquiry service? ANd do they mind helping you rearrange your timetable to fit in the new subject?

thanx

Yep, you can do 100-level units anytime throughout your degree, provided you meet any prerequisites, and have the time.

With changes of units, I think the forms are from SES, but its up to you to get the academic signatures to approve the changes. As far as them helping you, they wont. It's your choice to change units, thus its completely up to you to make sure you organise all relevant documentation, including timetables. These are easy to make up though, its all on the MQ website.

hey there

i was wondering that too at one stage, whether we can do 100 level in second year. i'm pretty sure you can - well at least i haven't read/heard anywhere that 100 level is ONLY for first year. all i know is that 100 level is the 'first step' and you need to do certain 100 lev units in order to do 200 level (ie prerequisites) but anyhoo, i'm sure you're already aware of that!

anyway, i intend to change my program too. cuz i'm sorta in the same situation as you. i really wanna do WST110 although it clashes with ANTH106. i had put down LING109 which i don't wanna do anymore, so tomorrow i'm gonna go to the SES (Student Enquiry Service - which yep, is where you get the 'blue' Change of Program forms) and see if i can change. hopefully they'll let me enrol in two units at once *fingers crossed*

hope it all works out for you, and have fun at uni! :p

100/200/300 levels only suggest the level of difficulty of the unit...

they don't mean for 100 level its a first year subject first year, 200 level is a second year subject, and so on...

you can do 100 level in your final year of uni, provided that you have met your degree requirements with enough credit points above 200 and 300 level. i plan on doing BBA103 in my final year!!

Actually, 100, 200, 300, don't signify the level of difficulty as such. Rather the level of specialisation in a course. Eg. you'll find most 100 level courses are "Introductions" of some kind. Whereas most 300 level courses are course specific units.

However, it so happens that "Introductions" are generally easier.

Yeah I've noticed that...even between LAW 400 and 500 level.
