This is a dumb Q, I know, but whats the formula for the recation of barium hydroxide and nitric acid??? :)

I think its
BaOH + HNO3 ----> BaNO3 + H20
(acid + base ----> salt + water)

Thats what I put anyway

mine was more like monkees but I only had 2 water molecules. :(

monkeys is correct....cept theres not that many waters i don't think it shoul be 2 water moleclues.. oh and i wrote + heat on the end.. i hope thats okay

Crap! I put this too.... for some reason I thought Ba was in group one, even though I know it is in group 2!!!! Silly silly me!!!! *shakes head*

No, you r rite,Carla,it's 2 H20.Look at the eq again and u should work it out.I don't remember te concentration.

although
BaOH + HNO3 ----> BaNO3 + H20
is balanced, BaOH isnt corrrect as Ba is 2+ and OH is 1-
therefore what i believe is correct is
Ba(OH)2 + 2HNO3 ----> BaNO3 + 2H20

so that kinda complicated things just a lil when using the equation
(CaVa)/S = (CbVb)/B

to start off i had the Ba(OH)2 one, and then i couldnt be bothered balancing it, then i noticed the BaOH one was already balanced, so i thought that was what they wanted, so thats the one i used
*damn valencies*
