You're a cutie.

Really? Thank god it's not 2U!!!!1111!!!!11!!!shift+1

Shit.

Next Question.
Differentiate the following with respect to x:
c)
d)
e)

(OMFG I DID THE TEX THING WITHOUT GOING ON THE SITE)
you just have express the reciprocal ratios as bases of -1

e.g. for the first question cot(3x) = 1/tan(3x) = [ tan(3x) ]^-1

and when you take the sqrt you raise to a power of one half'

so y= ([ tan(3x) ]^-1 )^(1/2)

then when you raise a power to another power, multiply the powers

so y= [ tan(3x) ] ^(-1/2)

now used chain rule

you do a similar thin part e, and part d is quotient rule

So what's the derivative of tan3x? 3???////???shift+/

Next question.
A cam is formed with cross-section (LMAO WTF?).
The cross-section consists of a semicircle AXC centre O and radius and a sector ABC of radius r, centre A and angle
(i) What is the perimeter ABCX of the cam in terms of r and ?
(ii) If the area of the cross-section of the cam is 1 square unit, show that the perimeter P is given by
(iii) Show that the least perimeter occurs when and calculate the value of to the nearest degree.

Man I need to drop this shit.

lol get a bloody tutor for god sake, if you cant do those derivatives then you are screwed, its just continual application of 3basic rules

dont expect anyone to do fully worked solns for the derivatives questions, they are very long, but very easy

I got a bloody tutor for god's sake, in fact, those questions are from my tuition. I can't do those derivatives, I am screwed. I'll continue the application of 3 basic rules. I won't expect anyone to do fully worked solutions. They are long, like my penis but easy like your mum.

Next Question.
A window consists of a rectangle surmounted by a semi-circle having its diameter the width of the rectangle. If the perimeter of the window is t meters, find the greatest possible area of the window.

ps. Page 10, someone answer my question for the retarded circle diagram!

Our school only started learning trig. It takes time for us to grasp certain concepts. You already know everything and hence think everything is easy. This isn't the case for someone that's just learnt the content

Lol, I just had that exact question on my weekly maths assignment :D

Also, boredoffail, why are you answering the questions? It's a 2U thread, and you're in Uni. You obviously know how to answer them, and some people here aren't so good at maths. Maybe let them answer the questions.

I would like to remind members to stick to the topic of the thread. Insulting others will NOT be tolerated, especially when unprovoked. Keep your opinions to yourself and please be considerate to other members in a public forum. Other members viewing this thread do not want to see a pathetic childish conflict being publicly played out in an educational thread like this. We do not give a crap about what issues you have with other members but we ask you NOT hijack a thread and publicly attack each other in a forum like this. It is completely selfish and extremely inconsiderate of other members who wish to use this thread for educational purposes.

You can deal with whatever issues you have with other members OUTSIDE this forum.

Agreed.

Next question (I think this is 2 unit): The third term of an AP (arithmetic progression) is 7, and the seventh term is 31. Find the 8th term. (Show FULL working out)

Anyway your fav question:
Evaluate: |x^2-4|= -1

I was surprised to find several questions of similar type in a book "Algebra Visually" ?? recently @ West Ryde Library including: Solve and the given answer was: .

But you know this inequality is true for all real x.

As for: if you solve the usual way you get

But this is nonsense since no x can satisfy this equation.
