edit: or for f(x)

a can be e because the ln(e) will be 1, leaving the we all know and love
No. I was referring to anything but . I was attempting to avoid it so I would not confuse MrBrightside.

Re: 2 Unit Revising Marathon HSC '10

Here's a good question.

An object is dropped from a point which is metres above the horizontal ground below. The object's motion as it falls is governed by the differential equation

Where v m/s is the velocity of the object after it has fallen metres from

i. Integrate both sides of the differential equation with respect to to show that the displacement is given by

ii. Hence show that

iii. Hence find the speed at which the object strikes the ground.

iv. The object approaches its limiting velocity as the distance travelled gets larger and has no restriction. What percentage of the limiting velocity has the object reached when it strikes the ground? Give your answer correct to the nearest percentage.

i.

When the object hits the ground, v = 0, x = 0

ii.

iii.
When the object strikes the ground,

Unsure about that one...

iv. Limiting velocity = max velocity?

Is that correct? :S

From trying to work out i) in my head, i don't see where the 400 can appear? in the displacement equation o.o on top

Edit: forgetting C. ): but meh my friend forgot it as well and he does 4u and got 97 for his 2u accelerated so MEH.

You were almost there. Some silly errors.

m/s.

Have you attempted the last question?

Yup but instead of "weaving" (get it i used ur name) through all that, u coulda just done x -> infinity in ur ii. equation.

Nice pun. Yes, it would be faster.
