Guys need help here,

There are a few different ways of expressing the trapezoidal and Simpson's rule.

What is the most ideal formula for both, for more than 1 application?

Your answer: Whichever one makes the most sense to you

I was after the formulae
You should probs just do heaps of practice Q's where they make you do them with multiple sub-intervals, and you'll probably end up just being able to do them without really needing to memorise a formula (like the process would just stick to your head). :)

The trouble with memorising formulas for this topic in particular is that unless you've practised using it heaps, it's easy to get confused as to how to use the formula, because there's usually several variants of them due to different notations or conventions etc. (This is also true about the error formula for Simpson's Rule, though that's not taught in HSC. But I think there was a document written up by seanieg89 addressing these things for the interested 4U student.)

What was the one they told you in Cambridge?

the biggest issue was that you had to do it multiple times if you had more than 2 function values

I didn't know the one you posted existed for like 2 months lol

I did it using the Cambridge formula for ages

Well tbh 4odds 2evens is just this formula's iteration condensed into one formula.

But yeah if you can memorise it then it's always better.

You have to keep in mind that you start counting at 0. That's why only memorising the general formulas will probably get you into trouble. Imo it's better to just know the results for a single parabola/interval, and then if multiple ones are used, you should be able to see you're just adding up results for several single parabolas/intervals, and if you do enough Q's you'll end up basically figuring out what the formula becomes in the multi-parabola/interval case (and maybe just keep the general results' form in the back of your mind). After all, those general formulas are nothing more than adding up the results of single parabola/interval.

I had to get of the boat so I could walk on water
This ain't no tall order, this is nothin to me
Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week
I do this in my sleep,

I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man
Let me handle my buisness, damn!
