4 unit and scaling (1 Viewer)

hey all, jus wonderin if u can help me wif a my lil dilemma.

recently ive decided that ive had enuf of ancient history n would like to drop the subject altogetha as i am doin 12 units for my hsc n i hav no time to keep up wif the workload.

more importantly, i was told by a fren that they count ur best 10 units n atm im toppin ancient history (as in coming first, avg is 95%) however i also do 4 unit and am not doin as well but relatively ok for it. im scared that for my uai, they will leave out my 4 unit mark and count my ancinet mark BUT ancient scales u down while 4 unit scales u up.

can sumbody plz clear this up for me so i can feel confident abt dropping ancient? thanx alot!

They count your best ten, yes.
4U scales you up, yes.
Ancient Hist. scales down, yes.

1st in Sefton in Ancient Hist and averaging 95%. = ok
Not doin well in 4U maths relative to your class in that pathetic regional backwater school= not ok.
Hence Ancient > 4U.

Uhh... they'll only count your scaled mark for Ancient History if it's higher than your scaled mark for Extension 2.

They don't just arbitrarily pick and choose subjects and throw a UAI together.

Personally, I think you'd be far better off keeping Ancient History. (Being ranked first is invaluable!)

Extension 2 scaling won't save you if you don't perform well enough.

wait wait, ok how would u say i am goin so far for 4unit maths:
1st assessmt worth 15%: score = 100% (course avg = 65%)
half yrly worth 25%: score = 66% (course avg = 62%)

im abt to get my 2nd assessment bak, worth 20%. im estimating it will b abt 80-90% mark.

compare this to ancient:
1st assessment worth 20%: score = 100% (course avg = 82%)
half yrly worth 20%: score = 88% (course avg = 80%)

You can't compare a mark in Ancient History to a mark in Extension 2... !

Don't make any decisions based on those sorts of mistakes.

In 4U you're doing O.K., but really have to see your next mark. But if you're coming first in a subject, surely that's not worth nothing?

ahh jus ok hey..well im stickin wif dropping ancient. ive had enuf of our teacher. ughhh. i like ms murray way betta. thats wwhy im stickin wif 4unit.

yes yes, im gonna try really hard for 4 unit..i still hav a chance of gettin uai 95+ rite? RITE?! lol. sowi, lil stressed here. had a really bad day today.

sorry to go a bit off track here but i also have a dilema i sat the 2u hsc last year when i was in year 11 and scored 93 now i am in year 12 and im doing 4u, is there any chance my 2u mark would be taken into concideration if i stuff up in the 4u this year

Sefton is a public high school isn't it? If they keep refusing, you can access them with a FOI request. But they really shouldn't be refusing in the first place - you have no other way of knowing how you're performing relative to everyone else.

i got 93 last year 2 when i was in yr 11, i was wondering roughly wot 4u mark id need to surpass this 93 in 2u to be counted, oviously itll b less

No. Your 2 unit mark can't be counted if you screw up the 4 unit. It's only the most recent that takes precedence, not the best.

If you can beat 1/4 people in the 4 unit course, then that's equivalent to a mark of 90 in the 2 unit HSC.
