now then u choose to do fellowship training.. and u must get accepted by a college.. or u stay a resident.
now ure training..
registrar.. variable from 22K - 60K... with training provided
each uni and college is different for this.. min. 3-6 yrs depending

then u start ure specialty..

its a legitimate question tho..
its lame but appropriate..

med has virtually no unemployment and ppl want to know wat they can earn and have a lifestyle..
the hours in ure specialty can be quite good too .. 8-5...
and lots of travel... be a the forefront of emerging technology.. etc..

u need a well rounded view .. cos lots of ppl dont.

Business in general has that amount of money, and in a shorter period with far less studying.

^^ Was just about to say that. Emphasis on the less amount of studying. That said, medicine will guarantee that sort of salary. To earn that in business takes fending off a LOT of competition.

No it wont...I think many of you have rose tinted glasses and are being too idealistic...most (50%) of medical graduates end up as GPs and 30% as physicians, 15% as surgeons and 5% with cushy jobs like dermatology, anaesthesiology and opthalmology. Medicine is not something you go into with hopes of earning money, nor is it suitable for those who are interested in money only without regards for the patient. That's why we have actuarial studies, commerce and law which pay much more money with less effort, if that's what you're looking for.

Ah, not always... sure they're hard for NORMAL people, but six years of medicine conditions your for that level of work.

I've just been speaking to a LOT of registrars about specialty applications here at AMSA convention. Of course, everything is easier in hindsight. :p

true...but its just gay cause i really wanted to do surgery...but ultimately i had to face that the lifestyle i would of faced was just not me, and nor did being a surgeon actually utilise what people consider my strengths...but i think i have made the right choice...:)

I always thought that anaesthesia is a VERY busy job, and you work long hours, especially if you're not in the Metropolitan areas, but the moneys good.
