I worked and got 99.65. Took time off during stuvac and the HSC though. I needed money :) It's such a cop out when people say they'll wait till after the HSC, wait till uni - what, like you expect to have loads more time when you're doing a degree? Don't put life on hold for the HSC. You'd probably spend the same amount of time socialising, watching tele or playing sport - but who gives up those activities?

Ahaha, listen 'bro' status means nothing. Nice you know you hold such a competent grasp of grammar - which obviously gives you the right to tell me how 'sick' you are.

And this is why stupid threads like this need to be stopped - this is a list of all these threads created in the past few days (the bold ones are the great thread creations you have conjured):

Oh how sweet of me.
so you are telling people what they can and can't post now, the part I don't understand is you dont seem to have a MOD status?

Do you own the server? Are you the one paying for the bandwidth?

the answer in short is No...so STFU.

kthxbi

It is achievable.
99.75 [Not me, the co-dux of my school].

Missed out on most of first semester year 12 debating overseas. Did minimal work, and completely slaughtered his subjects [mainly Comparative Literature, he topped it].

I think that is probably harder to deal with than a part time job.

Actually, it's incredibly easy doing a part time job while studying at Uni. And alot more effective [more money, award wage rates increase (for those who can't get above minimum wage jobs].

We are on the same wavelength. I didn't give up those activities, and I didn't give up my job for school. Putting your life on hold for the HSC is, solely in my point of view, a stupid thing to do. Whilst people say you only get one shot at the HSC, by balancing a job with study you learn a lot more about using your time effectively, organising yourself and juggling a number of things at once. I don't know, I guess having a job actually helped me do even better....it cleared my mind....or perhaps it was just the smell of coffee...

Congrats Elizabeth.

P. S. This thread was created for current year 12 students who might be facing the predicament of to work or not to work. It may help them in making a decision by reading others opninions...I know I had to make the decision at this time last year, as did some of friends...

If it needs to be moved, as it may not be strictly relevant to HSC graduates, then please, moderator, give it the shove.

I had 2 jobs, did physie (its like dancing), jazz and touch football throughout year 12 and still managed to get a 95+ UAI. Like everyone's said, these things keep you sane during the HSC and allow for time off from study.

I went to a physie competition the 2nd weekend of the HSC, yep pretty much a full day without study the day before the 2unit exam and ended up doing better in the exams that week than the 1st week.
