Surprisingly expensive though...its a server so its around the $500 onwards price tag (There are about 5 different models that carry the bonus hard-drive #cost varies).

Anyone think its a good idea for someone just looking into a basic external hard-drive, possibly for network storage as well?

They are good for home storage, would not recommend for businesses though...
