can anyone suggest a good testbook to go through to help with english

like i dnt want one about
the texts we had to study
but a text book bout textual features and essay writing

To be honest, I honestly don't believe that such textbooks will help you - your money would be better invested in perhaps a tutor (one on one), or even study guides on your texts.
