I've read quite the fair share of similar threads in regards to uni course choices, and well the circumstances don't really apply to me personally; so hence the decision to make my own thread. I'd just like to seek advice on what people think about the quality, practical aspect and future employment prospect of the courses I'm going to mention.
Tbh, the travelling time to the unis isn't really a huge factor, as I enjoy travelling and driving. I'm more concerned about the content and how much future employers value what I would have learnt in uni. Im not very specific about where I want to work and what jobs I want to do, but generally, I would like to do something international in a reputable firm (hence the huge list of degrees I'm interested in)
Courses that I'm currently looking at:
- commerce/eco @unsw
- commerce(international) @unsw
- economics @usyd
- commerce @usyd
- business/arts in international studies @uts
- business/law @uts
- law @ macq - I actually got guaranteed entry to this course already, but I've just heard and read somethings that made me doubt my decision to put this as my first preference
Now I didn't receive a particularly impressive atar (92), but I do have special consideration and bonus marks on my side. Law is something that I'd like to pursue along side another finance related degree, as I think its very useful and its definitely a bonus if I want to work in the corporate scene, whether or not I practice as a solicitor or a barrister + I performed quite well in legal in the hsc.
People have been telling me, if I don't take up law at macq (since it isn't considered first tier), it might be beneficial for me to complete a single bachelors degree (perhaps do honours) and continue into a postgrad law degree. They said that I would be using less time on two bachelors (5 yrs) but rather in the same or similar amount of time finishing off with a postgrad which is much more highly specialized.
So yea, thats the tough decision that I'm currently facing, any help or opinion on this would be greatly appreciated
