Hi everyone, this is my first post and I wanted to ask. The degree mentioned earlier makes me a little curious. How does this make me different from an electrician? Alongside this, can I perform the same tasks once I graduate?

Alongside this, how does the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering) make me different from a mechanic and can I do the same things?

Interesting question. As a power engineer, you can design the electrical work for a building, but you cannot do the actual installation. Because it requires different skills and knowledge. You need a license to do the installation. But you can easily get it as an electrical engineer.
On the other hand, EE has many different interesting branches like microwave, communication, computers etc.

By the way, I would not recommend mechatronics engineering. I checked the program in UNSW . It has only very basics of EE which is nearly useless in practice. I would recommend doing either proper EE or mechanical engineering and specializing later.
