Educating Rita? The main character has the same sort of transformation through her education, and also Frank (the teacher) transforms too.

Any Greek myth would have a transformation in it or a lesson to be learnt.

American Beauty maybe or a visual text, if that's required.

It sounds like an interesting assignment from which you will learn a lot.

Maybe a biography or non-fiction text would be good too, maybe from the same time period as Pygmalion or maybe from now.

Yes, it is.

My mother tells a story of when she went to see Pygmalion five times, or it was My Fair Lady.

She failed her matriculation or leaving (can't remember which exam that was) because she answered the exam question incorrectly.

Nevertheless she became a successful and experienced primary school teacher in her life before me.

This might help you, and it might be an interesting real-life example of transformation. What do you think?

Noooo..... 'My Fair Lady' is an appropriation of Pygmalion. That is, if you are referring to George Bernard Shaw's version of the Pygmalion myth. So it is not strictly the movie version of the myth, rather it is an appropriation.

Mmmhmmm...

hey guys thanks for the help

i probably should have made myself clearer though...
when i said transformation i meant of the text, not of the actual character

so i have 2 b looking for a text that looks at satirising social structure and that, like pygmalion does...

the text can also be anything from a movie, to a poem, essay, video clip, song lyrics etc etc...

When I think of satire, I think of Johnathan Swift.

Gulliver's Travels maybe?

Or Emile Zola is really terrific for satire of French culture.

Get one of his long series of novels. I enjoyed Germinal very much even though it was dark, it told about the mining days.

Gore Vidal or Kurt Vonnegut are good, as is Tom Wolfe. Maybe I am Charlotte Simmons?

And the writer who wrote Prep. Great satire, that one.

Really appreciated the clarification.
