Why do those marks mean you wont get a UAI of 70?

I know I wont get 70s, I need at least a 90 in ipt or a 90 in wood work which is both possible to push me over 70s,

I thought they were relatively good marks, but your internal mark, is that any better? Tasha I think education is only available at universities, is that correct? What about doing a tafe course and then applying to university, just check out the uni website to see if it is possible. Which uni did you want to go to?

Do you really think they were good. I know i can improve a bit. I'm not really sure what my internal mark is. What tafe course could i do that would let me apply to Uni. Yes education is only offered at Uni. I want to go to Deakin Uni in Melbourne. Do you think i would get into it???

Chemistry is hard, but it scales well. A mark of 80 in a crap subject, might not be as good as a mark of 60 in Chemistry. So it may appear that you are going bad, but you might not be. Chemistry.. is a harder subject, i completed it in 2003 (god i've been around the world haven't I?) and it isn't a course that is easy to learn. That.. and i had a crap teacher. Mr James if you're out there, i hope you're reading this. Mr James and his bloody HSC study conferences. You die! You die! :D
i only got 22% for chemistry in trials how is that not bad. Will it scale up a lot

Look at the university website and look under Education, there should be something there about transferring, or alternatively look at TAFE I know there is a link to what TAFE courses lead into which Universities, but you would need to check that for your university.

7th sign, your marks are good, why won't you get that UAI?

my marks are not good compared to my sister who got 94 % + in all of her 12 units. So my marks seem shit to my parents.

What does she do now? What are you planning on doing? I know a guy who did not do well at school, but he loves computers, and he has work, is happy and studying computers and he is where he wants to be.

Chemistry scaling is quite good, and if I'm not mistaken, it's the highest-scaling science.

But unfortunately 22% isn't going to be scaled much.

You can't depend on scaling. How well you do in your subjects is much more important that how much they scale.

Personally I don't think Chemistry is difficult at all once you grasp the basic concepts, then it's a matter of applying your skills and logic. If you understand the year 11 course you should have no trouble in year 12 as long as you listen in class and do your homework.

My suggestion: definitely work on chemistry. How are your classmates with this subject? Because if they're all quite good, you may be able to regain quite a bit of ground from that low 22% IF you go decently in the HSC (70+)

What about CFS or Italian Continuers? How well do you have to do?

CFS will not scale to well only if you do very well in it,

Italian Continuers should scale up ok I guess.

yeah but even if she gets 70 % in the hsc test and her internal mark is like 30% she is still stuffed...

If she gets like 90% + in the hsc for chem then things may be different.

But what I'm thinking is the moderation process might save her...

Languages scales up. Language extensions scales really well. :)

With Chemistry, either way, work on it. Stop thinking about scaling and ranks and just do everything you can to ensure you get the highest mark your ability will allow you.

What tafe course would let me get into teaching at Uni???
Hi tasha_1704, the TAFE courses you'd probably be best off looking at would be Diploma in Children's Services or something similar. That'd take 1 or 2 years and once you finish you could apply to university using an average of your UAI and your marks from the Diploma. You'd also get 1 year advanced standing at some universities for the Diploma so you might be able to go right into second year BEdu(or BTeach) after completing the Diploma.
Other alternative pathways should you not attain your desired UAI would include undertaking the HSC again next year at a school or TAFE, or perhaps doing some non-award study. There's a link in my signature that may have more information if you need it.
Hopefully though, you won't need to do all that stuff if you work your arse off in the exams and your ranks are decent. You can still get the UAI you need, it will be an incredible amount of work though.
