Kurt, I wish I had you as a student!

OK, I would do as namu suggests and see if you can get the teacher on side to let you prove you can fulfil the Prelim outcomes THIS term AND get onto the HSC requirements for 2 Unit this year. Get them to let you also sit the HSC 2 Unit assessments as they come up. You are obviously teaching yourself and doing very well at it.

Teachers ALWAYS bleat about the needs of the individual student and catering to the gifted as well as the struggling. So I would just frame your request as one of your needs require you to be stimulated and that means HSC 2 Unit this year and 3 Unit and 4 Unit next year. IF they have to change the time table, then they will have to do something about that because for teachers to whine they are going against their own mantra of "everything for the good of the students".

And what about Year 12? Have you thought that far? Would you look into doing a Uni Maths course and get a head start there? I don't know if you can, but it would certainly be something to think about. Pure Maths 1 sounds right up your alley!
Thanks, do you know if you have to be in the classroom for the prelim or HSC? See, i think i have fell into another trap door! When prelim extension 1 mathematics is on, HSC advanced is on (thats this year)! Do you have any suggestions?

No you don't but you seem to be hitting the wall the head teacher isn't willing to sign off unless there is a supervised program.

It sounds like you and your parents should approach the principal about a formalized extension program for the rest of your time at the school.

thanks namu for all your support.

I suppose that the only problem is my HT of mathematics. It seams he has his mind set on me not doing it. Although, when i asked him, it seamed like he didnt even consider the possibility, just, no.

Would you have any advice on how i could change his mind?
wait your turn u little nerd, u have only just started yr 10

Okay guys, i have made some progress!

A friend of mine, a teacher, was wonderful in such that she helped me heaps with this. I went with the suggestion of writing a letter / proposition plan for my acceleration. Essentially it boils down to this:

I will be siting on all the HSC mathematics classes. Unfortunately, Preliminary Mathematics extension 1 clashes with HSC Mathematics. So i have decided that i will do Preliminary Mathematics Extension 1 through Distance Education while doing the HSC advanced mathematics course at school. When i finnish the HSC mathematics ie end of term 3, i will go back into my Mathematics Extension 1 class to continue into the next year as well as start Mathematics extension 2.

Now this has not be confirmed yet, but it seams very easy to get to work. Also, alot of the teachers at school that my teacher friend saw thought that it would work and is good for me.

I will tell yous how it goes when i know :)

WOW. You really want this.
Well, good job so far. Its good to see a school student sticking up for themselves. My sister wont even ask questions in class shes so scared.
Acceleration can be extremely draining at times, so just make sure you persist, as, when you do really well, it is the best feeling in the world. [Well, the best feeling that I have currently experienced]
If you ever need help, just pm me and ill be happy to. Even just for a chat.
Me and namu spoke in person at the residential and we both hope you do well. Good Luck.

Okay, as promised, i will tell yous how its going ;)

The school is fully supporting me; i've got the principal, deputy/timetable person, and head maths teacher on my side.

Today i sat the preliminary yearly mathematics 2 unit examination to evaluate if i am suitable. I feel that i have correctly answered all the questions, and i just hope i haven't made any silly calculation mistakes :S

From there, they will send the relevant documentation to the BOS to have their committee decide whether i go into year 12 mathematics or not =)

So i will just have to see how things go. I will probably have an answer by the end of next week =)
