hi....is acst200 and stat272 difficult for the first 7 weeks or so??? Do u reckon its a good idea to not attend lectures for this period??? I ask this because i managed to get work for this period and i don't wanna let the opportunity slip.

both r pretty hard subjects. i wouldnt miss 7 weeks of it...

272 and 200 lecture notes arent as useful if u dun attend lectures and take notes.

Im doing those subjects this semester with full time work. My workl, however is
letting me start early on days, then leave for lectures during the day and cum back to work later etc. Maybe you could see if your work would let you do someting like that??

yeah respect to bigredfoot, you are going to have your work cut out for you this semester. good luck!

can I just get a run down of how time should be divided between ACST200/STAT272?

i was thinking for this sem:
ACST200 - 50%
STAT272 - 40%
ECON350 - 10%

or should stat take more time?

yeah guys....another question. The handbook of undergrad studies says that students doing BComACST - BAppFin are not required to enrol in ECON141. What does this exactly mean??? Does it mean we are allowed to enrol in any unit that has 141 as a prereq without actually doing 141??

You can do all of the subjects in the recommended BAppFin/Actuarial double without having to do ECON141.

stat272 takes time, but once u understand it, its easy

acst200 is just doing questions and getting a feel for them...the finals was rather different from the tute questions.

remember to do all the 'assignment' questions, those are more relevant to the finals

ok.....so lets say i plan to do econ361 in third year....it's not part of the core recommended program (i.e. its an elective).....do i have to do econ141 to fulfill the prereq for the course???

i dunno about econ350 but u'd wana spend more time on 272 than 200.

Assuming econ350 is like accg253, u;d wana spend like
acts200: 30%
stat272: 50%
econ350: 20%

but talkn proportions is not wot ur really after. its more about:
bludging: 30%
studying: 70%

if u go bludging: 80% and studying 20% den ur gone =p

acst200 is much harder than stat272 to be honest. acst200 questions are a lot trickier and require much more thought. stat272 ones aren't as bad in general.

i'd spend more time on 200 than 272 myself.

well you can say that 200 could have been a lot harder too.....

chunder: why don't you just defer acst200 and stat272 until next year??

I don't wanna defer because the job is only a temp job...if it was permanent i would certainly consider it.

Hey is it just me or does everyone on here doing Acst seem to be working full time and do uni part time? I guess in a field like this...practical experience is a big factor
