I've recently received offers from Macquarie University, University of New South Wales and University of Melbourne for BCom-Actuarial Studies. I was wondering if anyone here on the board could offer some help regarding which university offers the best program. Additionally, insight on job prospects after graduating would be helpful. Thanks.

B. Coms are in demand but it's a pity you can't come do it @ USyd...we're CLEARLY the best - that is if you go off how hard we boast.

I'm a 4th year actuarial student.

As a general rule:

- Macquarie is the best for actuarial.

- If you can get into the actuarial co op program with UNSW, go there.

- Melbourne is a non player.

Job prospects have picked up in recent years. Actuarial grads are in increasing demand from investment banks due to our superior quant/analytical skills. Also, if you want all distinctions, go to UNSW.
Could you elaborate on the UNSW co op program and what do you mean by wanting all distinctions?

there was a thread somewhere about how UNSW/MQ marks their student. And both vary quite a bit...have a look around the actuarial thread in MQ and UNSW

Oh really? I am currently attending ISM (not a filipino though).

I had planned to do actuarial studies in Wharton at University of Pennsylvania but did not get an offer. However, I've also received offers from UK colleges for actuarial studies (LSE and University of Warwick) but I'm not really fond of living in the UK so thats why I opted for Australia.
