I heard about this from a friend, and wan't to know if I am right.

To connect my PC (Windows 98) to my Mac (OSX) all I need is two wireless cards, one for each computer. Then I have a network, no nead for a base station.

If I want to share my cable intrnet connection that is on my PC then I can.

Is this correct?

Doesn't the base station provide an area in a radius, so within range, just two cards are neccessary? Basically, doesn't the base station just increase the range?

If so then yes.

yeah, i pretty sure you can setup a network like that. But you need to find a tutorial to do it properly.

After you get the wireless network up, you need to install ICS on the win98 machine, and set the Mac to get its IP via DHCP.

I've had difficulties getting *nix playing with ICS before. *Sigh*

Well its pretty simple to setup an AdHoc network, just set both wireless cards to Ad Hoc mode and manually set up some appropriate network settings...
eg..
Computer1 IP (the one wif the net) - 192.168.0.1
Computer2 IP - 192.168.0.2
