Critical perspectives e.g By a external literary critic. Is it needed?

Also, variant readings, Is it needed? and if so how should I best use them during my analysis?

Thanks baby, to whoever answers.

It's not entirely necessary, you should only use it if it helpsto enforce your argument

Definitely helps, but as Makematics said, it's not pivotal. People sometimes fall into the trap of arguing the critics' perspective rather than using the critics' perspective to reinforce their own. If you make sure to do the latter, it can only really benefit you.
