You're right, i'm applying for Officer - Gap Year. It's different for the Air Force.
Have you gone for your assessment day? Do you know if your in yet?

My assessment day is on the 3rd of November. I was kind of freaking out after everyone saying on here that it was full. But I rang up CRMC (Candidate Relationship Management Centre) and they said that I wouldn't have an assessment day if there was no positions left... just like they wouldn't interview me for an intelligence officer because they aren't hiring. So I'm kinda freaking out about my interview! I need to impress to make sure I got in.
How about you? Did you make it in?

Most military personel are sent to see civiliian doctors and most doctors in the RAAF are specialists in other areas. It's also not that simple, i've seen family friends being treated like dog-shit in the military due to the shortages. MO's in the army or RAAF being sent on 6 month stints with the navy repeatedly.

Also you don't understand that the training doctors must have to even enter the airforce as a medical officer is 10-11 years on average. The RAAF does not really provide any other industry expertise apart from tropical, aviation and undertwater medicine. Also the pay isn't that great either and yes i know about the pay scales and the benefits, etc.

Like I said before i would only enter the RAAF in the specialist reserve.

I think you are overstating the way in which your friends were treated, "dog shit" is not being sent on board a ship - I think that is being a bit precious.

Yep iv been accepted for Combat Engineer ADF Gap Year. I know it says its not available on the web site but they will take it off once it has been filled. If ive heard that iv been accepted and now they tell me that i havent i will be royally pissed off too.

Damnit! I'd say you have it as they told me I couldn't do it on my YOU session, they said " you can't do combat engineer, they are taking it off the GAP program".This was about 4 months ago, so I'd say at some stage they have realised they are actually doing it and just didn't bother to tell me I could re-apply. DFR, you suck. Do you have an enlistment date yet?

Anyway, mate, I envy you, you are gonna have a fuckload of fun blowing shit up at Moorebank! Best of luck.

EDIT: Btw wtf happened the the myhq thingo? It just dropped off the face of the planet about 2 months ago, is everybody else having this same problem?

Part of the problem of having a civilian type set up operating as the recruitment machine.

well my update of my status..
i also heard gap year soldiers are Full i was like damm i couldnt belive it cause i was applying for it, but i made sure by ringing up.. so i quickly changed my prefernces to
soldier full time and navy full time,
1. army (soldier) full time
2. navy (sailor) full time

hopefully i make it.. i sending my letter soon..

I said treated like dog-shit in general. My mates got an ACDRE pissed off and compaining about ADF problems aswell they've encountered.

Also I hope you guys on GAP year don't get put in the Airmans or SGT's barracks or RAAF Richmond, RAAF Williamtown or the ex-immigration compound at Singleton. If so, enjoy your cum coated blankets and making your hospital corners.

Congrats! Assessment day as in your interveiw or fitness? Ah, no need to be worried, just know what your talking about and be confident and you'll be fine.

I called up the Brisbane Recruitment Center and they said that the Air Force hasn't accepted anyone yet and that they are lowering the number of entrants to 100. So i'm going to wait it out until November, because thats when my profile says i'll be contacted... I'm not too sure whats going on.

I rang my enlistment coordinator and she garaunteed me that my position was secure, so I think im pretty safe. My assessment day was on the 22nd July so Im not sure wen they would have told you that it was unavailable now.

By the way I agree that the DFR process is inconsistent - its actually pretty hopeless i have found.

and for the fitness assessment what happens there in detail?
do they expect you for maxinum performance?? like more than the 6.1,6.5,7.5 zone? just just get the mininum?

Just relax on ure assesment day, know ure stuff and be confident in wat u say... n dont bullshit on...

They are there to help u, not make u fail so they can turn u away. After all, they are after more numbers, and lets be honest, u dont have to be a bright spark to get in lol....
