It's apparently $689 for the full version, and $289 for the upgrade (source). Seeing as though you already have Photoshop 7.0, you would be best served by buying the upgrade version (I'm pretty sure you can upgrade from 7.0 to CS2). :)

Don't bother uppgrading it's not worth it. You can get the full premium version of creative suite for $500-600 or buy photo shop for $500 alone or $200 for students.

The education/academic version is the exact same as the normal version, my dad's friend is a liscnenced adobe seller all they do is stick on a academic version sticker on the box.

You can get the full education premium version of creative suite CS2 9.0(you get 7 full versions of software and the books it includes pdf maker, illustrator, photoshop, in design etc for $590 from Harris technology or from adobes online australian store, dont buy it from ebay. Or you can buy photoshop cs2 9.0 full edication version for $300 brand new. I'll post some links up in a min if u dont beleive me.

List of official australian online adobe selling companies: http://www.pacific.adobe.com/purchase/main.html

You get Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium software is a unified design environment that combines full new versions of Adobe Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, GoLive CS2, and Acrobat 7.0 Professional software with new Version Cue CS2, Adobe Bridge, and Adobe Stock Photos for $525.

Or go to harris technology in parramatta (opposite officeworks), bring some student id, bus pass or something and they'll probably order it in for you and charge you $550-590 for adobe creative suite premium.
Premium
Adobe Photoshop CS2
Adobe Illustrator CS2
Adobe InDesign CS2
Adobe GoLive CS2
Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional(pdf. maker)
Version Cue CS2 file manager
Adobe Bridge
Adobe Stock Photos
Adobe PDF integration features
Color consistency features
Design Guide and training resources

And if you're a professional/publishing artist/company you'll get pwned if they find out you're using illegal software.

Idiot.

I liked 7 the best- it was so stable, uncluttered, etc... maybe you should look at the newer versions (the features) on the net and see if any of the features are actually any use to you? IMO version 7 ran the best and had everything just the way I like it... CS2... I used the new features when i first tried it, but apart from that, I just do everything the same way I used to.

I love CS 2 and absolutely adore the new features. 7 was good as well, but the handling of 3000+ fonts and 5000+ brushes and plugins was quite horrific :(

Exactly, I got thousands of brushes and CS2 handles it like a breeze. Best money spent

It could be because it is reading from a trial version, although i don't think that should be a barrier.

Perhaps something is blocking it via firewall or something like that?

Otherwise give them a call if you can find somewhere local?
