i think the 2024 paper was the most surface level paper ever . imo 2023 and 2021 objectively harder. we probably all thought it was hard cause unlike the 2023 and 2021 papers, we never saw the questions on smartermaths. It's also the principle of IQ tests, once you've seen it you can't retake it.

the question isn't that bad- this one specifically just excluded/cropped out the parts prior (namely P(<2hours)) that would solve the problem.

I know you weren't trying to get people to solve this but saying solve = good IQ and then making it unsolvable is a bit...

you get that sentiment after doing trial papers, which are piss easy (and plain boring). if u sat the preceding hsc papers unseen, you would see that some papers would be harder than the 2024. all the papers preceding your year are seen since you already seen and done the questions on smartermaths.

hmm when i did the previous ones most of the questions were unseen
2024 had the present value question and the ferris wheel question which were very hard, i think the other papers might've had more hard questions on calculus which I personally find easier

2024 was the hardest exam. If you check the HSC raw marks database, it had the best alignment, meaning it was harder than other years.

I think that 4 marker ferris wheel equation and 4 marker financial math table question are to blame. the rest of the paper looks standard.

2021 still aligned better than 2024. however nobody got 100 raw mark in 2024 unlike 2021

I did not do smarter maths and 2024 was my worst (also my first so maybe a correlation but anyway)

Icl 2024 was a very hard paper imo. other than that, any predictions for the 2025 paper? i think its been a while since a hard as financal math q, with reucrrence relation so it might be time. Im terrible at probality so im praying theres a bunch of easy ones

i posted these questions in the gc chat but no one saw it lol so:

yk how ur not meant to be using your calculator during maths reading time? you can look at ur formula sheet right?


also if it gets to that point, id probs be desperate and do it anyways but for questions where it tells u not to do any further working out and draw the graph or smth from what you have alr worked out, will you just not get the marks if u have to use more working out to do the Qn?

i think as long as you get the question right its fine but if it says not to do more working out you shouldn't be doing it cuz you never know how they end up marking
