Adversarial
- Pits two parties against each other in the court of law, each representing their clinets.
- Relies on the skill of the advocates representing each party.
- Judges are neutral representatives that rule on the law, juries determine the facts of the case.
- When a defendant admits to the crime, the case proceeds to sentencing.
- The use of the jury in many cases presents a fair verdict on behalf of society.
- The judge will sentence a person only if they are found guilty by a jury. Judges do not provide a conviction if a jury is present.

-accused is not compelled to give evidence in criminal proceeding
-defendants in most civil law systems can be compelled to give a statement, this statement is not subject to cross-examination and not given under oath
-judges in an adversarial system are impartial in ensuring the fair play
-rules of evidence are also developed based upon the system of objections of adversaries and on what basis it may tend to prejudice the trier of fact which may be the judge or the jury

except for the fact that they are appointed by political parties.....:)
Well, not all of them are. But there tend to be judges from ex-Governments, so that tends to balance it out. But it doesn't really matter in an Adversarial system, because judges play the role of the silent adjudicator.
