my school wants our the subject forms for we want to do for year 12 by next week~
problem is.. i dont know whether to drop one and do 10 units or not drop and do 12 units.. or even drop one and pick up senior science;;
like seriously~ i need some advice because
i dont really want to be scaled down by picking up senior science. the subjects im doing now are mostly lowly scaled anyway..

I don't think you will be allowed to pick up a course because you have missed to much even if it is preliminary. Also you can drop anytime you want in year 12 as long as you have the required amount of units so you can put the decision off.

Can you pick up Senior Science at the beginning of Year 12? o.0

And don't ever choose/discard a subject because of its scaling. Decide based on your interest and performance in the subjects :) Which subjects are you doing now and which ones are you thinking of dropping? And how do you feel you are doing in them?

Doubt it, because you haven't completed the requirement time for the course or you could make a deal with the teachers and do the preliminary and hsc course in the same year

Which subject are you thinking of dropping then?

I guess the best thing I can say now is to try harder in your subjects, if you feel that you're not doing all that well. Just do the work - it should pay off :)

One thing, screw scaling whenever thinking of dropping or picking up subjects. Scaling isn't important, how well you do in the subject is important. Now, as for your problem, I'm not sure if you can pick up senior science in year 12, and you always have the option of dropping a subject in year 12 if you have enough units to do so. I suggest keeping the 12 units and trying to do well in all of them, but if one subject is dragging you down in year 12, then drop that particular subject.

Just pray that the one subject 'dragging you down' is not English otherwise your < UAI. Unless you are really stuggling in a subject I think the best advice is to keep it and if you still feel the same way at the end of term 1 year 12 then drop it. Good Luck!

for the 12 or 10 unit thing: i would say do 12 units then screw the school over and drop a subject later on if need be. but then the senior science factor comes into account.

All I can say it is F**K! Why does English have to affect our UAIs so much, I've droped from 15/15s to 12/15s and I can't overcome this wall. My UAI will be so bad. :(

English is different from other subjects in the sense that it is the only compulsory 2 units that make up the 10 units of your UAI. Otherwise it will affect your UAI relatively the same as other subjects, you do good in it and it will drag you up, and you do shit in it, it will drag you down.

so from 100% to 80% it was bond to happen when the pressure was on, however you are still only in preliminary and HSC starts with a clean slate so you can still get a good UAI if you try your best from the moment HSC year begins. ;)

Thanks for the motivation kid@dmin. I'm hoping I can soon overcome the 12/15 wall before yr12. :)

English assessment this Thursday...a speech in front of my whole cohort. *dies* :(

Not a problem, hope my motivation\advice helped a little. The only advice I can give for your speech is to know it well (practice, practice, practice) and believe in what you are saying because that always helps. Good luck with the speech and I hope you excel once more!
