AERO1560 Introduction to aerospace incorporates the aeronautical people, and all the people in the space streams of aero, mechanical and mechatronics.

The aerospace engineering course has no specialist classes for first semester (and probably the first year) i.e. there are no "aerospace" lectures. Indeed, there will be no special aerospace lectures, just space lectures attended by all 3 courses with a (Space) at the end. In first semester means aero(space) students are in classes with aeronautical engineering students, mech(sapce) and mechatroics(space), as well as with science students for the maths courses.
As for the gender ratio, of the 17-odd first year undergraduates doing the 3 Space courses, I know of at least 3 girls.

There's only 17 people doing space? Wow, I feel special...

I woulda thought it was closer to 10-12 in each, I could be wrong though.

Well, I thought there were around 30 people doing (space) as well (say around 10 in each) but during the into talk they said there were 17. Maybe I heard wrong and they said there were 17 in aerospace. But still, that's a really small number (comapred to say the 900+ that're doing commerce at UNSW...)

is the course worth doing?
From what I've heard from those in higher years (both mechatronics/space) it's very worthwhile. One thing I would do though is go flexible first year to avoid getting KC Wong as a lecturer if you're planning on mech or mtrx.

99.4 is kinda hard to get especially if english is going to contribute 2 unit. i mean im pretty comfortable with all my other subjects but how the hell do you get a band 6 in english?

I only got 86 in English, and less than impressive results in my sciences and still got 98. Had I done better in Physics and Chem (as in 93ish in each) I probably would have made 99, despite my poor English result. Also you can just do flexible first year, get a distinction average, and transfer in second year.

Hmm, AFAIK AERO1560 is prerequisite for a number of courses later on, so if you want to do space, you'll have do AERO1560. Think of it as aero boot camp ;-)
As for 2U english, the standard advice, in my experience, works well. Put in the time and effort and you'll do well. Write lots of practice essays, and keep on revising them/handing them into your teacher until you get it "right"

All the best
