second that, especially when one learn to use maple for 1st year and afterwards one need to learn matlab in second year. Is like learning Haskell when you will never use it again and will have to know C anyway.... oops off the topic.

Commerce needs it too, I am pretty sure, for some if their Maths in 1st year.

the symbolic computing add-on in matlab uses the same language as maple.
