Ciao~
mi chiamo Mary. Non sono molto brava in l'italiano.
im taking up Italian for yr 12- next term.. and i need all the help i can get (as i am hoping for a over 90 HSC). I'm studying Italian beginners so my vocab at the moment is very limited and i have difficulty in making sentences in Italian (there's often gramatical errors..etc)
So if you have any words, good PHRASES or even sentences(translated in english:as i may not understand) -i would really appreciate it! ^^
Does anyone who's studied or studying Italian have any yr12 (preferably 2004-syllabus) notes/vocab on tourists"-"getting around town"..etc...it would help me out heapS!

new york e' un maccello di citta' - literally, new york is a slaughter house = new york is a horrible city. might be a bit rude, i'm not sure. check spelling.
mi sto dando alla pazza gioia - i'm having a great time
mi sono divertata un sacco/un mondo - i enjoyed myself heaps
ci sono tante cose da fare - there are heaps of things to do
ci vuole un'ora per andare in centro - it takes an hour to get to the centre of the city
ci vogliono 45 minuti per andare in centro - it takes 45 minutes
aiuto! - help!
mi servono delle coperte - i need some blankets
mi faccio la doccia - i shower myself
prendono le ferie tutti gli anni - they go on holidays every year
non vale la pena = it's not worth it

sono ridotta fisicamente - i look terrible (i.e. sick)

stiamo sempre grattando le palle - literally, we're always scratching our balls = we're bored. (obviously this is somthing that only a boy would say. it's a rude phrase btw)
metterei un mano sul fuoco che - (fig) i'm positive that
sono un po' giu' - i'm a little down
avere 2 piedi in una scarpe - (fig) to be on your best behaviour
fare una bella figura - (fig) to make a good impression
mette il suo mano in culo - (rude) she/he is very strict
mi ecciti - you turn me on. haha it might be useful
piu' di 50% di studenti vengono bocciati ogni anno - more than 50% of students fail each year

gargh that should be enough to start you off . by the end of yr 12 you should have a list at least 5x as long as this. for those doing yr 12 now, add on!

hey im freaking out about the speaking exam this week......does anyone have any good sentences that i could add to my responses about my personal world/family/relationships to make them sound interesting? This would help me soo much...thanx xxoo

but you know what?!~they say that adj comes after the noun
eg. La mia casa grande...
well why is it that this: eg. ora ha un nuovo amico. has the adj before the noun? what's going on - -a
how r u suppose to know when to put the adj before/after the noun...or do you "just" know naturally?! That's the problem with writing sentences for me neways...and even writing in plural is confusing- eg. i miei capelli lisci sono arancioni..is that right? i dunno- writing sentences/compositions in general seems quite confusing.

if you're looking for good sentences, just scope through all the reading/writing exercises that you've already done - this way you'll probably have a beter idea of how to use the vocab and when it is appropriate too.

bel, grande, buon, nuovo, are exceptions of adjectives that come before the noun. they also have to change to agree with the noun:

- un bell'uomo, una bella donna, un nuovo amico, un buon'idea etc

i think there are more but those are the ones that you'll probably use most

i miei capelli lischi sono arancioni might be better written as ho i capelli lischi arancioni. i might be wrong. what does lisco mean anyway?

lisci means straight and I think it should be, i miei capelli sono lisci e arancioni

Don't believe stephanie, shes a liar! lol dritto is straight if im not mistaken. lisci could be too. and rossicio is ginger coloured hair if youd like to use that instead of arancioni

yes dritto is straight as in a direction, lisci is straight as in straight hair.

i like that quote 1985 guy, can you maybe use it if you do ext?

do how did everyone's exam go? were the examiners very nice?

i dont think u could use it for extension, but i did take use something that alex's mum in jack frusciante said in that quote.
the oral was ok, my examiner was really nice

my examiner was great, but i didnt get any "higher order questions" as my teacher calls them, but I used a lot of subjunctive, so fingers crossed!
