Situation: A person entered an aligned mark of 90 in one of the UAI calculators and got a scaled mark of 80. The raw mark to get the aligned 90 was 85. Does the scaled mark of 80 mean that a raw mark of 85 would be scaled to 80 or a raw mark of 90 would be scaled to 80?

I know thats how it works for the HSC, but for the UAI calculator, since the aligned marks are entered i thought it might work the other way

If you wanted to accurately convert an aligned mark to a scaled mark, you would ideally first 'unalign' it back to a raw mark, and then convert that raw mark to a scaled mark. UAI calculators typically by-pass this middle step due to the lack of data pertaining to raw marks.
