S Shards New Member Joined May 19, 2004 Messages 28 Gender Female HSC 2004 Oct 21, 2004 #2 - it helps ppl's gradual adaptation to hypoxic (oxygen deficient) conditions - three phase process - phase 1 - increase ventilation due to increased Oxygen demand. - phase 2 - body produces more red blood cells - phase 3 - increased capillarisation of muscle cells and more oxidative enzymes in the blood - takes around 2 to 3 weeks to be effective
