I just got my half yearly report with two HSC assessments and my English Advanced mark is unbelievably shocking. I am on 76 and am ranked 146/163. Am I totally screwed for my English Advanced mark or can it still be saved if I do well in the next assessment and the trials?
Also, I heard they take the best 2 Units of English to calculate your UAI, pretending that my marks so far is what I would get for my final HSC mark, if I have an English Extension I mark of 96, plus the Advanced mark mentioned above, what are my chances of getting an OK scaled mark for my UAI?

They do take your best 2 units of English. This can be the compulsory 2u course (whether standard or advanced) or the 2 extension units or a combination (1 unit of the compulsory course and 1 extension unit).

So let's say you got 76 for 2u Eng. Adv.
1u subjects are out of 50, so you'd get 48/50 (same as 96/100).

76/100 is the same as 38/50 (we're only counting 1 unit of adv eng).

So it's 38 + 48
= 86

If you did really well in Ext1 English you could hope for a high band 5.

That's all I can help you with. But just try harder with Adv Eng and you could push that to a band 6 easily (if you were keen on putting the effort in for ext1).
I hear ext2 is piss-easy though.
