you have to talk about symbolism and expressionsim, right?
its pretty gay with the drama exam since you never get to read last year's excellent essays like you can with englsih, does anyone know where to get them?

TIS I! Are you coming to the thing tomorrow that Oakley and McP are hosting to massively cram? I'm thinking that we may finally get to learn something.

Expressionism, symbolism, that damn varsouviana and sound effects.

I think I might just exchange student numbers with Ali for the exam ;)

I think the reason so many people do Our Town and Streetcar together is that they parallel really well.
Both of the playwrights have similar intentions in writing what they wrote.
And the whole idea of Williams and Blanche being a symbol of his homosexual suppression is really interesting, if you've come across it.

I have to say i think Australian Theatre is much easier to decipher, though.

i'm doing Streetcar and Speed The Plow. I like performing these better than the Australian ones, but they're hella boring to read the scripts. I seriously fell asleep reading Speed The Plow

(streetcar)

I have never come across the fact that Blanche is a symbol for his homosexual suppression, and i have done extensive research on symbolism in the play.
Has anyone else been told this or heard this?

I'm doing Streetca and Speed the Plow.

And Alan (Blanche's husband) was symbolic of Williams' homosexulaity & all the issues/stigma against it, blahblahblah.
Blanche herself was symbolic of Williams' mums, and therefore his, 'old world' ideals. By her 'losing' to Stanley this shows Williams, and the rest of the worlds, move into 'new world' ideals.

Wow, I think I'm more prepped for my exam tomorrow than I thought. ;)
That and I have nerdy drama friends... Lol. :headbang:
