American elections aren't really decided by swinging voters but the number of pseudo Democrats/Republicans that vote anyway

Admittedly, I'm relying upon highlights here, but didn't Bush make a verbal gaffe along the lines of mixing up Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden? Something like 'We're still looking for Saddam Hussein..I mean, Osama Bin Laden'. Not a good sign, if so.
hmm it perhaps shows that he generalises all terrorists as one. he is quoted to referring to osama bin laden, saddam, al queda, taliban, etc all as under a common term - "the enemy", 'they', 'them', 'the threat' and so on.

hmm offside - i see theres so much interest in a FOREIGN election campaign ? i bet many of u know more about the US candidates than our own liberal/labour. aussies watch too much tv.
sowill the outcome of their election impose any direct impact on australia..? i think we collectively should focus more effort into removing crazy old john howard from office.

anwyays i think senator kerry was more convincing in this dabate on foreign policy (as he has always been).
but i dont think the debating skills of either president or the alternative president is more relevent than the actual policies they are trying to push. many of you pple seem to believe of otherwise - and comment on their standing posture, long breaths, hand movement, etc . quite ridiculous....

Bush had noticably longer pauses than Kerry. A (good) comedian can think on their feet, and so should a President be able to.
Although yes, a good comedian thinks on his feet, it's WHAT he thinks of and chooses to improvise with that is the greater determinant - even if this wasn't the case for Bush.

Latham + Bush isn't a great combination.

Howard + Kerry isn't as bad, but would definately be worse than Howard+Bush.

i would just love it if Bush had to list his "allies", and then Kerry could point out which countries are not.
Coalition of the Willing: Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Morocco, Netherlands, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovaka, Spain, Turrkey, UK, Uzbekistan, and of the course, the armyless nations of Costa Rica, Iceland, Parshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, Solomon Islands. Not to mention that more then half of these countries had the majority of their population AGAINST the war.

Coalition of the Unwilling: Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, china, Cuba, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Thailand, UAE, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe and 103 others.

I'd like to see Bush respond to that :p

A bit before, Kerry was on the Letterman show. Letterman mentioned that Bush wanted to have the debate seated and Cheney wanted it standing up, Letterman claimed "they reached a comprimise and they'll both be squatting". Kerry then said "No they reached a comprimise and Cheney will sit on Bush's lap" ...tehehe

According to polls Kerry "won", including among swing voters.

Bush stammered, he stumbled. He tried to twist Iraq, Al Qaida and 9/11. Kerry called him on it. Though Kerry 'mucked up' the debate to some extent by getting angry a couple of times I still believe it comes out simple Kerry looked better, spoke better, and was more clear and concise on what he proposed.

Bush had to come on a strong defensive for the war, and I think he skillfully evaded many direct questions, and spoke slowly until the green light came on, when he got to the real point he wanted to make whether relavant or irrelavant, and ended strongly with "This country does not need a president who sends mixed messages" or to that effect. I think he over-used it a bit. Overall I wouldn't say he was very articulate and did not seem get a message across too well.

Side note: did you guys notice Bush's facial expressions what the hell was wrong with him I couldnt stop laughing at him when he was making those weird faces.
