I've had a look through the forums for a thread with what sorts of things we should be looking at when analysing a song (devices and techniques etc), and I havn't found one.

If there is one nd i just havn't found it, then my bad.
Otherwise, what sorts of things should we be looking at?

Heres what I've got so far:
Repetition
Rhythm

For a more specific example I'm using 'A Horse with no Name' by America, for an assignment to do with physical journeys. So far all I've got is the repition of the chorus drumming in the fact that it is a solitary figure taking the journey.

Don't analyse it as music, analyse it as a poem.

So all your language techniques come out eg

simile/metaphor/imagery etc
