Basically it's when you get paid a certain amount for going on holidays or elsewhere (annually, as the name suggests).

Holiday Loading is part of the Preliminary General Course. And everyone probably did it in Year 9 or Year 10 somewhere.

Tedious little thing to learn too.

And its always 17 1/2%! Surely things will change now with the new IR laws?

When someone receives annual leave loading, is that all they receive or it that on top of their usual pay?

So using the example given, would Chris only get the $361.90 or would she get that on top of her usual $2068 (meaning she would get $2429.90 for the four weeks)?

Most employees receive four weeks holiday, or annual leave each year. In some cases they receive an annual leave loading, which is a bonus calculated as a percentage of their holiday pay.

Example
Chris earns $26 884 p.a. She is paid a 17 1/2% holiday leave loading based on her four weeks holiday period each year. How much is this loading?

$26 884/52 = $517

So Chris earns $517 per week.

4x $517 = $2068

So Chris earns $2068 every 4 weeks.

Her leave loading is 17 1/2 % of 4 weeks pay.

17 1/2 % x $2068 = 17 1/2/100 x $2068
= $361. 90

So Chris recieves $361.90 annual leave loading.
Thanks GREAT HELP!!! :)
