Hi. I need a no-frills laptop with:

- Word processing
- wireless internet
- long battery life
- quite large screen
- fairly light would be good

Any ideas? PS (I'm searching the laptop threads atm too so don't flame me!)

Thanks.

tbh mate you could get any laptop on the market with those capabilities.
Remember the smaller the screen, probably the lighter the laptop.

Go visit JB hi-fi or something and browse their laptops. There are plenty of laptops under $1500, or even $1000, that would do everything you stated, and more. Just remember that the smaller the laptop, the more it usually costs, given the smaller part sizes. So, a chunky 17" laptop will be a lot cheaper than a smaller 12" laptop.

Wouldn't looking in a store be more helpful than asking people on the internet?

tbh thegovernator you've just done the equivelent of walking into an office building and announcing you need a car with 4 wheels and an engine. 99% of products on the market would fit that criteria.

go to www.graysonline.com.au

search for laptops on there, but make sure you read and re-read all the information correctly, because some can be ex-lease and some brand new. Plus keep in mind that its around 18% surcharge on whatever you buy from that site. Online auctioning also requires a visa/debit card.

i bought my laptop for just under $1000 delieved to my house, but it was valued at $1500+ (Brand New as well)

Usually every battery that comes standard with the laptop isnt very good, but you can buy a new battery from the supplier at around $250 which will last for around 6+ hours.

MICHAEL

p.s. need anymore help, just ask.

go to the dell site and get the inspiron 1525, they start from $799 but with the $799 one i'd suggest you upgrade to the next level or processor and if you want decent battery life also get the 9 cell battery
they are fairly slim and light and you also get a built in webcam and you can get it in all sorts of crazy colours, i want the yellow one but i can't justify the cost cause theres nothing really wrong with mine atm :(

I would still go for the www.graysonline.com

as you can pick what you want, research it. And can pick up a real bargain.

very good laptop for around $1300
