from what i understand, mathematics for computer science students is more on the discrete mathematics and algebra which would be relevant to algorithms, binary tree searches (data organisation, cryptography and coding theory, etc). There is also numerical computing (floating pt numbers) for calculating quantities with precision.

read the course outlines for exact details on course content. basically, any applied maths subjects (math21xx,22xx,23xx and math31xx, etc) are more numerical computing things and the pure maths is more for theoretical stuff (the upper end of the course code mathxxxx).

relevant 2nd yr subjects (in addition to the standard stuff - linear algebra, calculus, stats):

MATH2301 Mathematical Computing
MATH2400 Finite Mathematics

3rd yr: (won't b in the unsw student handbook because they are new: to be offered in 2006 onwards)

MATH3101 Computational Mathematics
MATH3411 Information Codes and Ciphers
MATH3521 Algebraic Techniques in Number Theory

there are probably more but those are the best ones yet i can remember.

there are also postgrad courses that would be interesting. eg theoretical neuro science (stuff related to fuzzy logic)
